Description:
Patients:
This study involved 43 patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. The median age was 64 years and 63% were male.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were given asparagine-glycine-arginine-human tumor necrosis factor alpha (NGR-hTNF), which is a biologic therapy agent that targets tumor blood vessels to cause tumor cell death.

Toxicities:
The highest report toxicity level in this study was grade 4, including shortness of breath, respiratory failure, and fatigue. The most common adverse events of any grade were chills (71% of patients; grade 1-2), pain (49%; grade 1-3), and fatigue (37%; grade 1-4).

Results:
The median overall survival in this study was 12.1 months.
