Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 trial involved 35 male metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients with a median age of 67 years and a range of 55-84.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were administered a combination of two chemotherapy agents, gemcitabine and docetaxel.

Toxicities:
The maximum toxicity level reported was grade 4. The most common grade 3 and 4 toxicity was neutropenia (48% of patients). Grade 3 fatigue was experienced by 15% of patients. Grade 1 and 2 alopecia or fatigue was reported for 80% and 69% of patients, respectively.

Results:
The median overall survival reported for this study was 19.4 months.
