Patients: This Phase II study involved 225 glioblastoma multiforme patients at first relapse who were divided into two groups of 112 patients and 113 patients.

Treatment: The group of 112 patients were administered the chemotherapy drug temozolomide. The group of 113 patients were administered the chemotherapy drug procarbazine.

Toxicity: For both groups, grade 3-4 toxicities included: nausea, vomiting, fatigue, constipation, headache, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and anemia.

Results: For the temozolomide group of patients, the 6-month progression free survival rate was 21%. Overall median survival was not detailed.
