Description:
Patients:
This study involved 70 patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme with no prior treatment. Patients had a median age of 57.4 years and 56% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with radiation therapy, the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab (an antibody that blocks a protein involved in cancer cell growth), and the chemotherapy agent temozolomide.

Toxicities:
The maximum toxicity reported was grade 4, including leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and lymphopenia. Grade 3 or higher fatigue, dizziness, and convulsions were also reported.

Results:
The median progression-free survival and median overall survival was 13.6 and 19.6 months, respectively.
