Description:
Patients:
This phase II study involved 40 newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients who had previously received radiation therapy. The median patient 53 years and 73% of the patients were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents temozolomide and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD).

Toxicities:
The highest toxicity grade reported was grade 3 and included hand-foot skin reactions, neutropenia, and mucositis (inflammation of the GI tract lining).

Results:
The median overall survival was 13.4 months.
