Description:
Patients:
This study involved 59 metastatic colorectal cancer patients with a median age of 75 years, 58% of whom were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent capecitabine and the biologic agent bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
There were five reported treatment-related deaths due to mucositis, digestive hemorrhage, liver toxicity and sepsis. Grade 3/4 hand-foot syndrome (19% of patients), diarrhea (9%), deep vein thrombosis (7%), and pain (5%) were also reported.

Results:
The median progression-free and overall survival rates were 10.8 and 18 months, respectively.
