Description:
Patients:
This phase II study involved 43 patients with metastatic urothelial carcinoma who had not received prior chemotherapy. The median patient age was 66 years and 76.7% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents cisplatin and gemcitabine, and the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
There were 3 treatment-related deaths due to brain hemorrhage, heart attack, and aortic tear. Deep vein thrombosis, neutropenia, and anemia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 19.1 months.
