Description:
Patients:
This phase II study involved 46 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma with a median age of 58 years; 83% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits a protein involved in supporting tumor blood supply.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to bleeding. Grade 4 hypertension and liver toxicity.

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 12.4 months.
