Description:
Patients:
This phase II study involved 53 previously untreated patients with advanced malignant mesothelioma. The median patient age was 66 years and 85% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents cisplatin and pemetrexed, in addition to the biologic therapy bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
There were two treatment-related deaths reported. Grade 3 fatigue and Grade 4 pulmonary embolism were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 14.8 months.
