Patients were treated with the biological therapy agent called everolimus, which is an inhibitor of the mTOR protein and interferes with cancer cell growth.

Treatment-related deaths due to heart attack and cerebral bleeding were reported. Grade 4 fatigue, thrombocytopenia, and nausea/vomiting were also reported.

The median overall survival was 3.3 months. The median progression-free survival was 2 months.

This study was supported by the Norvartis and Televie companies.
