Description:
Patients:
This study involved 60 patients with advanced transitional cell carcinoma of the urothelium. The median patient age was 62 years and 46 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents gemcitabine, doxorubicin, ifosfamide, paclitaxel, and cisplatin.

Toxicities:
There were two treatment-related deaths due to sepsis. Grade 4 neutropenia was reported by 50% of the patients. Grade 3 fatigue, nausea, and stomatitis were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 16.4 months.
