Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 51 advanced urothelial cancer patients who had not received prior systemic chemotherapy. The median patient age was 67 years and 72.5% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents gemcitabine and cisplatin, in addition to the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 neutropenia, thromboembolism (blood clots), infection, and bleeding. Grade 1-2 diarrhea and skin toxicity were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 13.9 months. The median progression-free survival was 6.5 months.
