Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 39 metastatic colorectal cancer patients. The median patient age was 65 years and 61.5% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy combination called FOLFIRI (irinotecan, 5-fluorouracil, and leucovorin) plus the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included neutropenia and anemia. Grade 3 stomatitis (inflammation of stomach lining) and anorexia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 22 months.
