Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 32 inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma patients who had not received prior systemic chemotherapy. The median patient age was 50 years and 81% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents doxorubicin and oxaliplatin.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included febrile neutropenia and anemia. Grade 3 diarrhea and grade 2 nausea, vomiting, and alopecia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 7.1 months.
