Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 48 elderly metastatic colorectal cancer patients who had not been previously treated. The median patient age was 76 years (range of 70-86) years and 50% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with chemotherapy drugs capecitabine and oxaliplatin, and the biologic bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to respiratory distress. Grade 34 asthenia (weakness), neurotoxicity, and diarrhea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 20.1 months.
