Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 42 advanced hepatocellular cancer patients. The median patient age was 63 years and 81% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent called ramucirumab, a monoclonal antibody for the VEGF receptor 2 protein that inhibits cancer cell growth.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Grade 4 hypertension and grade 1 headache and nausea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 12.0 months.
