Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 24 glioblastoma multiforme patients who had not received prior chemotherapy. The average patient age was 48 years and 17 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with radiation therapy, chemotherapy with temozolomide, and immunotherapy with autologous formalin-fixed tumor vaccine (AFTV) for which patients received their own immune cells that had been previously removed and “trained” to attack tumor cells.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were grade 4 lymphopenia and neutropenia. Grade 1 skin reactions and alopecia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 22.2 months.
