Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 35 hepatocellular carcinoma patients. The average patient age was 74 years and 69% were male.

Treatment:
Patients received chemotherapy with cisplatin suspended in iodized oil using a method called hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy.

Toxicities:
Deaths due to heart disease, bleeding, and pneumonia were reported. Grade 2 nausea and grade 3 diarrhea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 18 months.
