Description:
Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 32 previously treated metastatic melanoma patients with an average age of 65.4 years; 53.1% were male.

Treatment:
Patients received aviscumine, an immunotherapy agent that stimulates the immune system and causes cancer cell death.

Toxicities:
There were two reported study-related deaths due to respiratory distress and cardiac failure. Grade 1-2 application site reactions and grade 3 pruritus (itchy skin) were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 11 months.
