Description:
Patients:
This phase 3 study involved 533 metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients who had not received prior chemotherapy. The median patient age was 70 years.

Treatment:
Patients received the steroid hormone prednisone and chemotherapy with docetaxel and lenalidomide.

Toxicities:
Treatment-related deaths due to respiratory problems and pulmonary embolism were reported. Grade 4 neutropenia and diarrhea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 17.7 months.
