Patients: Thirty patients with unresectable hepatocellular (liver) carcinoma were entered into this Phase II trial.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of a combination of the chemotherapy drugs 5FUDR and doxorubicin (adriamycin) with recombinant leukocyte interferon.

Toxicity: Toxicities included: leucopenia (grade 3-4), thrombocytopenia (grade 3), fatigue (grade 3), anemia (grade 3), nausea, and vomiting.

Results: Median survival was 3 months.
