Patients: This Phase I/II trial involved 33 women with metastatic or primary breast cancer.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two drugs epidoxorubicin and docetaxel (taxotere). Many of the women also received surgery.

Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included leucopenia, lymphocytopenia, and infection. Other toxicities included: anemia, thrombocytopenia, diarrhea, fever, conjunctivitis, tearing, nausea/vomiting, stomatitis, peripheral neuropathy, hand-foot syndrome, asthenia, and alopecia.

Results: Median survival time (from start of treatment) was 17.5 months.
