Description:
Patients: This Phase II study involved 79 patients comprised of 61 glioblastoma multiforme patients and 18 patients with anaplastic astrocytoma.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of radiation therapy (accelerated hyperfractionated) in combination with two chemotherapy drugs - carboplatin (paraplatin) and etoposide (VP-16, vepesid).

Toxicity: Grade 3 toxicities included leucopenia and thrombocytopenia.

Results: The median survival for the glioblastoma patients was 11 months.
