Description:
Patients: In the control arm of this Phase III study, there were 110 Patients with newly diagnosed supratentorial glioblastoma multiforme (one patient was classified as having a gliosarcoma).

Treatment: Treatment consisted of infusional carmustine (BiCNU) and radiation therapy.

Toxicity: 65% of patients experienced grade 3-5 toxicities. There were two treatment related deaths grade 5 (respiratory failure and infection). Grade 3-4 toxicities included: myelosuppression, nausea, vomiting, metabolic and phlebitis.

Results: The median survival time was 11.2 months.
