Description:
Patients: This Phase II study involved 135 patients with locally advanced NSCLC (stage IIIB). 122 of the patients were men, and 13 were women. The median age was 60 years. None of the patients received systemic chemotherapy or radiotherapy prior to treatment.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of radiotherapy treatment (specifically three-dimensional conformational radiotherapy) and two chemotherapeutic agents: paclitaxel and cisplatin.

Toxicities: Pnemonitis was common and one patient with grade-4 pneumonitis died, but no other grade-4 toxicities were observed. Grade 3 toxicities were mostly hematologic, though grade-3 esophagitis and pneumonitis were observed.

Results: The median overall survival was 17 months.
