Description:
Patients: This Phase II study involved 15 patients with metastatic melanoma.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of a form of biological therapy - SAM486A, an inhibitor of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SAMDC). SAMDC is an enzyme that affects polyamine synthesis and polyamines are essential molecules for cell growth and proliferation.

Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included neutropenia. Grade 1-3 toxicities included fatigue, lethargy, and myalgia.

Results: There were no complete or partial responses.
