Patients: This Phase II study involved 60 patients with advanced (non-small-cell lung cancer. Metastatic sites included liver, brain, lymph nodes, and bone. Forty-three patients were men, and seventeen were women. The median age was 61 years. None of the patients received chemotherapy prior to treatment.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of two chemotherapeutic agents: gemcitabine and oxaliplatin.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities include neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, gastrointestinal, neurological, hepatic, and cardiovascular toxicity.

Results: The median overall survival was 7.3 months. Fifteen patients responded to treatment (1 complete response), and the one-year survival rate was 36%.
