Patients: This phase II study included 51 patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Treatments: Treatment consisted of chemotherapy (paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil) and folinic acid and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor.

Toxicity: Toxicities included grade 3 alopecia. Other toxicities such as neutropenia, nausea/vomiting and neurological toxicity were mainly grade 2.

Results: The median survival was 14 months.
