Patients: This phase III study involved 28 patients with metastatic or recurrent colorectal cancer. The median age was 68, ranging from 33 to 82 years.

Treatment: All patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs oxaliplatin, fluorouracil, and tegafur/uracil. Tegafur also has some biological effects, preventing the new blood vessels from forming.

Toxicity: Grade 3 leukopenia, vomiting, and sensory neuropathy were reported.

Results: The median overall survival was 13.4 months. The median time to disease progression was 5.2 months.
