Treatment: Surgery, radiotherapy, three-step radioimmunotherapy (avidin-biotin pretargeting approach to target 90Y-biotin) was administered to 8 of the 20 glioblastoma multiforme patients. In addition, some patients received chemotherapy. The three-step radioimmunotherapy (avidin-biotin pretargeting approach to target 90Y-biotin) involved: administration of biotinylated monoclonal antibody against tenascin which binds to the antigen on the tumor cells surface, administration of avidin, administration of streptavidin which binds to the monoclonal antibody, and the administration of radionuclides.

Toxicity: 42% of the patients developed grade 1-2 hematological toxicity.

Results: The estimate of median survival for the glioblastoma patients who received the full treatment (i.e. including radioimmunotherapy) was 33.5 months.
