Patients: This phase II study involved 60 women with ovarian cancer or primary peritoneal cancer. Most (46) had ovarian cancer. The median age was 63, ranging from 34 to 90 years.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the biological therapy Imatinib mesylate.

Toxicities: Grade 4 neutropenia was reported in 2 patients, and grad 4 genitourinary/kidney toxicity was reported in 1. Grade 3 toxicities included leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, allergy, rash, nausea, emesis, dehydration, liver, pain, and pulmonary. No grade 3 toxicity was reported in more than 5 patients.

Results: The median overall survival was 16.39 months. The median progression free survival was 1.74 months.
