About Cancer Monthly

Cancer Monthly was founded by volunteers whose lives were forever changed by cancer. When we needed treatment results, they were not available to us. Three years of time and considerable resources were invested so that Cancer Monthly would become a reality and that treatment result information would be available to other patients. While there are many sites that provide treatment options, this is the only resource that summarizes and reports on the actual results of these therapies. You should use this information to help make informed treatment decisions with your professional healthcare provider.

Today, Cancer Monthly is one of the fastest growing healthcare websites on the internet with over 10,000 visitors each week. Cancer Monthly's free e-newsletter, CancerWire has a separate readership of approximately 100,000 every month and its cancer news service is automatically indexed by Google News. Cancer Monthly has been written up by Smart Computing Magazine, Wired and has been the subject of over a dozen radio shows focusing on health.

Research

Treatment summaries are provided by Dr. Lori L. Hudson and Dr. Emil Chuck.

Dr. Lori L. HudsonDr. Lori L. Hudson is an immunologist and molecular biologist with research interests in immunotherapeutic strategies for infectious diseases and cancer, identification of novel adjuvants, and the development of diagnostic assays. She is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Sigma Xi. She has held appointments at Duke University Medical Center and the Medical University of South Carolina. Her articles have appeared in the peer reviewed medical literature including: The Journal of Pathology, Genes and Immunity, and others. A driving force behind her interest in cancer and the need for better patient education are the cancer diagnoses in her own family (breast cancer and leukemia), and the desire to know more about therapy options.

Dr. Emil Chuck
Dr. Emil Chuck has worked for major medical universities (i.e. Duke University Medical Center) and hospitals (i.e. Mount Sinai School of Medicine) as a clinical researcher and scientist. Dr. Chuck has written research publications that have been published in the peer reviewed medical/scientific literature.

Management

Michael Horwin testifying before the U.S. Congress (Hearings on Cancer Care for the New Millennium - June 7, 2000) The site is under the management and legal counsel of Michael Horwin, MA, JD. Mr. Horwin lost his son, Alexander, to brain cancer in 1999. Alexander's therapy was administered at a major children's hospital. After his death, the Horwins discovered that the treatment was not FDA approved for children or for brain cancer, that it was listed as a known human carcinogen, and that it had been considered a failure by other oncologists. Based on these revelations, Mr. Horwin was invited to testify before the U.S. Congress (Integrative Oncology: Cancer Care for the New Millennium June 7, 2000). In 2001, his expose War on Cancer won the Scribes Award for the best law article written in the United States.
