Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 27 malignant peritoneal mesothelioma patients with an average age of 53 years (range of 31-75); 20 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with surgery; chemotherapy with cisplatin, doxorubicin, and mitomycin; immunotherapy with interferon gamma; and radiation therapy.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 hearing disorders and bowel obstruction.

Results:
The median overall survival was 70 months.
