Description:

Patients: Forty patients with hepatocellular (liver) carcinoma who had already undergone curative resection were involved in this study. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 received one intra-arterial dose of cisplatin and lipiodol; Group 2 received four doses of cisplatin and lipiodol.

Treatment: Cisplatin (platinol) and lipiodol following surgery.

Toxicity: Toxicities included: vomiting, pain, nausea, fever, hiccough, arterial stenosis, and arterial blockage.

Results: For Group 1, the median survival was 41.2 months. For Group 2, the median survival was 31.8 months.
