Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 50 melanoma patients who had no prior chemotherapy, 31 of whom were males. The patient age range was 15 to 92 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent temozolomide.

Toxicities:
The most severe treatment toxicity was grade 4 lymphopenia. Grade 3 anemia, anorexia, and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 10.1 months.
