Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 47 untreated malignant mesothelioma patients with a median age of 75 years; 91% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent vatalinib, which inhibits proteins involved in supporting tumor blood supply.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included nausea, liver toxicity, and granulocytopenia.

Results:
The median overall survival was 10.0 months.
