Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 37 women with recurrent or persistent epithelial ovarian cancer. They had all received previous treatment for their cancer. The median age was 55, ranging from 34 to 74 years.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs etoposide and ifosfamide

Toxicity: Grade 4 neutropenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia were reported in less than 10% of patients. Other toxicities (grade 3 and less severe) included alopecia, peripheral neuropathy, nausea/vomiting, and changes in laboratory values.

Results: The median overall survival was 9 months.
