Description:

Patients:
This phase 3 study involved 120 previously treated patients with recurrent glioblastoma. The median patient age was 54 years and 77% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with an alternative therapy called NovoTTF-100A, which is a portable device that emits low intensity electric fields (tumor treatment fields) to physically interfere with the growth of cancer cells.

Toxicities:
The most severe adverse effects were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 nervous system disorders. Grade 1-2 contact dermatitis (skin irritation) was also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 6.6 months.
