Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 45 patients with recurrent gliomas. Thirty-four patients had glioblastoma multiforme.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two drugs, carboplatin (paraplatin) and thymidine.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 non-hematologic toxicities included headache, altered consciousness, fatigue, and nausea. In addition there was hematologic toxicity equal to or greater than grade 3.

Results: For glioblastoma multiforme patients, the median survival was 23 weeks (5.3 months) from date of registration.
