Description:

Patients:
This study involved 78 women with newly diagnosed metastatic breast cancer who had received prior doxorubicin and docetaxel treatment. The median patient age was 58 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent pegylated liposomal doxorubicin.

Toxicities:
The most severe adverse effect was of grade 4. Grade 3/4 toxicities included fatigue, mucositis (inflammation of the lining of the GI tract), and hand-foot syndrome (skin irritation on hands and feet).

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 24.8 months.
