Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 53 women with recurrent ovarian cancer. Their median age was 51, ranging from 30 to 77 years of age. The majority, 75.5%, were between the ages of 41 and 64 years of age.

Treatment: These patients were treated with topotecan and carboplatin, two chemotherapy drugs.

Toxicity: The most common grade 4 toxicities were neutropenia, anemia and thrombocytopenia. These were also reported as grade 1, 2, or 3 toxicities, as were vomiting, liver and kidney function changes.

Results: The median overall survival was 19 months.
