Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 30 patients with aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma who had previously received chemotherapy. The median patient age was 61.2 years and 40% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents pixantrone, cyclophosphamide, and vincristine, along with the steroid hormone prednisone.

Toxicities:
The most severe adverse events were of grade 4. Grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia with fever, anemia, abdominal pain, and heart failure (not reported to have resulted in death).

Results:
The median overall survival was 17.9 months.
