Description:

Patients: This Phase II trial involved 31 (assessable) patients with metastatic breast cancer. Patients had been treated previously with hormonal therapy and/or chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs – docetaxel (taxotere) and estramustine (emcyt).
Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included hematologic, neurosensory, pulmonary, hyperglycemia, and auditory. Grade 1-3 toxicities included: nausea, edema, emesis, fatigue, diarrhea, stomatitis, infection, focal dermatitis, vaginal bleeding, myalgia, GI bleed, fever, epistaxis, hyponatremia, and hot flashes.

Results: Median overall survival was 17 months.
