Description:

Patients: This phase II trial involved 70 women with recurrent ovarian cancer. Their median age was 60 years, ranging from 31 to 83. All had received chemotherapy previously with platinum and a taxane.

Treatment: These women were treated with the biological agent bevacizumab and the chemotherapy cyclophosphamide.

Toxicity: Grade 5 toxicity, death related to treatment, occurred in three patients. These deaths were from pulmonary hypotension and an obstruction with a gastrointestinal perforation. Grade 4 lymphopenia occurred in 2 patients, and 1 instance each of grade 4 constipation, gastrointestinal obstruction, low sodium levels, and dyspnea.

Results: The median overall survival was 16.9 months.
