Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 26 patients with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer. Of these, 84.6% were male and the median age was 63 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with a combination of the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin (also called CDDP) and irinotecan (also called CPT-11), followed by thoracic radiotherapy and chemotherapy with carboplatin (also called CBDCA).

Toxicities:
One patient died due to treatment-related toxicity during this study. Grade 3 or 4 neutropenia (53.8% of patients) and diarrhea (19.2%) was also reported.

Results:
Median overall survival in this study was 16.4 months.
