Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 48 advanced or metastatic non-squamous non-small-cell lung cancer patients who had not received prior chemotherapy. The median patient age was 61 years and 77.1% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents docetaxel and cisplatin, and the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to bowel perforation and sepsis. Grade 4 neutropenia, grade 3 vomiting, and grade 2 fatigue were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 13.3 months. The median progression-free survival was 4.4 months.
