Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 40 patients with metastatic transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder who had previously received cisplatin-gemcitabine chemotherapy. The median patient age was 62 years and 80% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents methotrexate, paclitaxel, epirubicin, and carboplatin.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were grade4 neuropathy (nerve disorders). Grade 3 neutropenia was reported in 30% of the patients.

Results:
The median progression-free survival was 12 months and the median overall survival was 12.5 months.
