Description:

Patients: This Phase I/II study involved 77 patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. All patients had not received previous chemotherapy. 56 were men and 21 were women. Ages ranged from 36 to 75 and the median age was 64. Most of the patients had adenocarcinoma Stage IV.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy agents - irinotecan and cisplatin.

Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included leukopenia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia. Other side effects included gastrointestinal toxicity.

Results: The median survival was 12 months.
