Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 52 metastatic melanoma patients with a median age of 62 years; 71.1% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents docetaxel and vinorelbine, as well as the immune therapy agent GM-CSF, which acts to strengthen the immune system during chemotherapy.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4. Grade 3 to 4 adverse events included anemia, neutropenia, and fatigue.

Results:
The median overall survival was 11.4 months.
