Description:

Patients: This Phase II trial involved 21 patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma; 16 men and 5 women. Median age was 64 years. Eleven patients had undergone previous nephrectomy, seven had previous radiation therapy, and two had previous biologic therapy.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs, vinblastine (velban) and estramustine (emcyt).

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included hematologic, emesis, fatigue, and neurotoxicity.

Results: Median survival was 49 weeks (11.3 months).
